Ingredients:

For the Beef:

  • 1½ lbs beef flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil

For the Sauce:

  • ½ cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • ¼ cup beef broth
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 tsp cornstarch

For the Stir-Fry:

  • 4 cups broccoli florets
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds, optional
  • Cooked white rice, for serving

Method:

  1. Slice the beef thinly against the grain. Toss it with cornstarch and soy sauce. Let it sit for 10–15 minutes.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, beef broth, brown sugar, oyster sauce, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, and cornstarch.
  3. Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large wok or skillet over high heat.
  4. Add the beef in a single layer and sear for 2–3 minutes per side, working in batches if necessary. Remove and set aside.
  5. Add the remaining oil and broccoli. Stir-fry for 3–4 minutes until bright green and crisp-tender.
  6. Return the beef to the skillet and pour in the sauce.
  7. Stir everything together and cook for 2–3 minutes, until the sauce thickens and coats the beef and broccoli.
  8. Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.
  9. Serve immediately over hot steamed white rice. 🍚

🔥 Tip: For tender, restaurant-style beef, slice it very thinly against the grain and avoid overcrowding the pan.
