• 1 lb (450g) ground beef (or any protein like sausage, chicken, or pepperoni)
• 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
• 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
• 1/2 cup diced onions
• 1/2 cup diced bell peppers (optional)
• 2 cloves garlic, minced
• 1/2 tsp salt
• 1/2 tsp black pepper
• 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning
• 1/2 cup marinara sauce (plus extra for dipping)
• 1 egg (for egg wash)
• 1 tbsp butter, melted (for brushing)
• 1 tbsp sesame seeds or everything bagel seasoning (optional)
Instructions:
1. Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. Cook the Filling:
• In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef with onions, bell peppers, and garlic until browned.
• Drain excess fat and season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
• Stir in the marinara sauce and let it cool slightly.
3. Roll Out the Dough:
• On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a large rectangle (about 12×16 inches).
4. Assemble the Bread:
• Spread the cooled beef mixture evenly over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border.
• Sprinkle mozzarella and cheddar cheese on top.
5. Roll It Up:
• Roll the dough tightly from one long edge to the other, like a jelly roll.
• Pinch the seams and tuck the ends under to seal.
6. Prepare for Baking:
• Transfer to the baking sheet, seam side down.
• Brush with the beaten egg and melted butter.
• Sprinkle sesame seeds or bagel seasoning on top.
7. Bake:
• Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
8. Cool & Serve:
• Let it cool for 5-10 minutes before slicing.
• Serve with extra marinara sauce for dipping.
