Perfectly Fluffy White Rice Recipe
INGREDIENTS:
- 1 cup (200 g) white rice(basmati, jasmine, or long-grain)
- 2 cups (480 ml) water
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp butter or oil (optional, for extra flavor)
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Rinse the Rice:
- Place the rice in a bowl and rinse under cold water 2-3 times until the water runs clear. This removes excess starch and prevents clumping.
- Boil the Water:
- In a medium-sized pot, bring the water to a boil. Add salt and butter or oil, if desired.
- Add the Rice:
- Stir in the rinsed rice, ensuring it’s evenly spread out in the pot. Reduce the heat to low and cover with a tight-fitting lid.
- Simmer:
- Let the rice cook undisturbed for 15-20 minutes (depending on the variety). Avoid lifting the lid during this time, as the steam is essential for even cooking.
- Rest the Rice:
- Once the water is absorbed, remove the pot from the heat and let it rest, covered, for 5-10 minutes. This allows the grains to firm up.
- Fluff and Serve:
