Cabbage roll casserole

Made with simple ingredients, this cabbage casserole is super easy to stir together and can be made ahead of time (on the weekend!). The family and chef will love this simple and comforting dish!


°2 lbs minced meat

°1 white onion, chopped

°2 minced garlic cloves

°2 packages (24 ounces) marinara sauce

°1 teaspoon dried thyme

°1/2 teaspoon dried dill

°1/2 teaspoon dried sage

°1 teaspoon of salt

°1/2 tsp fresh ground black pepper

°1/4 tsp cayenne pepper

°2 c cooked white rice

°4 slice cooked bacon

°1 medium (2 lb) head of cabbage, shredded

°1 1/2 c mozzarella cheese

*How to make :

Preheat oven 375°F and grease 9″ x 13″ baking dish with butter or non-stick spray.

In a large skillet, cook ground beef and onion over medium heat until meat is tender. Adding garlic & cooking for other minute.

Drain the fat and stir in 1 jar of the marinara sauce with the thyme, dill, sage, salt, and pepper. Bring to boil, covering, reduce heat, & simmer 5 mn. Add bacon and rice and remove from heat.

Line baking dish with third of cabbage. Cover with half of the meat/rice mixture evenly. Add the other third of the cabbage, the remaining meat mixture, and the last third of the cabbage.

Pour rest jar of marinara sauce on the top. Covering with aluminum foil & bake for 45 mn.

Removing foil, cover with cheese, & bake to cheese is bubbling and melt, 10-12 minutes.

Let it rest 5 minutes before serving.
