Ingredients:
For the Beef:
- 1½ lbs beef flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced
- 2 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
For the Sauce:
- ½ cup low-sodium soy sauce
- ¼ cup beef broth
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
- 1 tsp cornstarch
For the Stir-Fry:
- 4 cups broccoli florets
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- 2 green onions, sliced
- 1 tsp sesame seeds, optional
- Cooked white rice, for serving
Method:
- Slice the beef thinly against the grain. Toss it with cornstarch and soy sauce. Let it sit for 10–15 minutes.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, beef broth, brown sugar, oyster sauce, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, and cornstarch.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large wok or skillet over high heat.
- Add the beef in a single layer and sear for 2–3 minutes per side, working in batches if necessary. Remove and set aside.
- Add the remaining oil and broccoli. Stir-fry for 3–4 minutes until bright green and crisp-tender.
- Return the beef to the skillet and pour in the sauce.
- Stir everything together and cook for 2–3 minutes, until the sauce thickens and coats the beef and broccoli.
- Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.
- Serve immediately over hot steamed white rice. 🍚
🔥 Tip: For tender, restaurant-style beef, slice it very thinly against the grain and avoid overcrowding the pan.
