Moist Spiced Applesauce Bread

Never knew applesauce made bread this good!

Moist, spiced, and smells like fall—save it now!

Ingredients

  • 1½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup applesauce (unsweetened is best)
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup vegetable oil (or any neutral oil)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp ground nutmeg
  • ¼ tsp ground cloves
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

1.

Preheat the oven

  • Set your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.

2.

Mix the wet ingredients

  • In a large bowl, whisk together the applesauce, sugar, oil, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth and well combined.

3.

Combine the dry ingredients

  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves.

4.

Combine wet and dry

  • Add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture. Stir just until combined—don’t overmix.

5.

Bake

  • Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
  • Bake for 45–55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

6.

Cool and serve

  • Let the bread cool in the pan for 10–15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Optional Add-ins:

  • ½ cup chopped walnuts or pecans
  • ½ cup raisins or dried cranberries
  • A sprinkle of brown sugar + cinnamon on top before baking for a sweet crust

Storage Tip:

Wrap tightly and store at room temp for up to 3 days or refrigerate for up to a week. It also freezes well!
