Ingredients:
¼ cup mayonnaise
1 egg, beaten
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
2 cans (5 oz each) tuna, drained
½ cup breadcrumbs (panko or regular)
½ teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon onion powder
½ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon black pepper
½ cup shredded cheddar cheese (or Swiss)
2 tablespoons chopped green onions or parsley
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon butter or oil (for frying)
For Serving (Optional):
Sliced tomatoes
Extra cheese for melting
Toasted buns or bread slices
Tartar sauce or spicy mayo
Directions:
Mix the ingredients – In a large bowl, combine tuna, breadcrumbs, mayonnaise, egg, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, shredded cheese, green onions, and lemon juice. Mix well until everything is evenly incorporated.
Shape the patties – Form the mixture into 4-6 patties, pressing them firmly so they hold their shape.
Cook the patties – Heat butter or oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook patties for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.
Melt the cheese – If adding extra cheese, place a slice on top of each patty during the last minute of cooking. Cover the pan to help it melt.
Assemble & serve – Serve on toasted buns with sliced tomatoes, lettuce, and your favorite sauce, or enjoy them on their own with a side salad.
