Moist Spiced Applesauce Bread
Never knew applesauce made bread this good!
Moist, spiced, and smells like fall—save it now!
Ingredients
- 1½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup applesauce (unsweetened is best)
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup vegetable oil (or any neutral oil)
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- ¼ tsp ground nutmeg
- ¼ tsp ground cloves
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions

Preheat the oven
- Set your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.

Mix the wet ingredients
- In a large bowl, whisk together the applesauce, sugar, oil, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth and well combined.

Combine the dry ingredients
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves.

Combine wet and dry
- Add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture. Stir just until combined—don’t overmix.

Bake
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
- Bake for 45–55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
6.
Cool and serve
- Let the bread cool in the pan for 10–15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Optional Add-ins:
- ½ cup chopped walnuts or pecans
- ½ cup raisins or dried cranberries
- A sprinkle of brown sugar + cinnamon on top before baking for a sweet crust
Storage Tip:
Wrap tightly and store at room temp for up to 3 days or refrigerate for up to a week. It also freezes well!
