Do not overmix.<\/p>\n<p>Turn dough onto a floured surface and gently pat into a 1-inch thick rectangle. Fold the dough over itself three times, then pat again.<\/p>\n<p>Cut out biscuits with a 2.5-inch biscuit cutter. Place on a baking sheet so sides touch slightly.<\/p>\n<p>Bake for 12\u201315 minutes or until golden brown. Remove and brush tops with melted butter if desired.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, cook the sausage in a skillet over medium-high heat until browned and fully cooked. Do not drain the fat.<\/p>\n<p>Sprinkle flour over the cooked sausage. Stir and cook for 1\u20132 minutes to eliminate raw flour taste.<\/p>\n<p>Gradually whisk in the milk, ensuring no lumps. Bring to a simmer and cook, stirring often, until thickened (about 5\u20137 minutes).<\/p>\n<p>Season with salt, pepper, and optional garlic powder and red pepper flakes.<\/p>\n<p>Split warm biscuits and spoon generous amounts of sausage gravy over each.
