{"id":23,"date":"2023-04-06T20:18:36","date_gmt":"2023-04-06T20:18:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/breckas.com\/?p=23"},"modified":"2023-04-06T20:18:36","modified_gmt":"2023-04-06T20:18:36","slug":"kentucky-butter-cake","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/breckas.com\/index.php\/2023\/04\/06\/kentucky-butter-cake\/","title":{"rendered":"Kentucky Butter Cake"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Ingredients:<\/strong><br \/>\n1 cup butter, softened<br \/>\n2 cups sugar<br \/>\n4 large eggs, room temperature<br \/>\n2 teaspoons vanilla extract<br \/>\n3 cups all-purpose flour<br \/>\n1 teaspoon baking powder<br \/>\n1\/2 teaspoon baking soda<br \/>\n1\/2 teaspoon salt<br \/>\n1 cup buttermilk<\/p>\n<p><strong>Butter Sauce:<\/strong><br \/>\n1 cup sugar<br \/>\n1\/2 cup butter, cubed<br \/>\n1\/4 cup water<br \/>\n1-1\/2 teaspoons almond extract<br \/>\n1-1\/2 teaspoons vanilla extract<\/p>\n<p><strong>Directions:<\/strong><br \/>\nIn a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in vanilla. Combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt; add to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk, beating well after each addition.<\/p>\n<p>Pour into a greased and floured 10-in. tube pan. Bake at 350\u00b0 until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean, 55-70 minutes. Cool 10 minutes. Run a knife around edges and center tube of pan. Invert cake onto a wire rack over waxed paper.<br \/>\nFor sauce, combine the sugar, butter and water in a small saucepan. Cook over medium heat just until butter is melted and sugar is dissolved. Remove from the heat; stir in extracts.<\/p>\n<p>Poke holes in the top of the warm cake; spoon 1\/4 cup sauce over cake. Let stand until sauce is absorbed. Repeat twice. Poke holes into sides of cake; brush remaining sauce over sides.
