We have the best ground beef casserole your family will love! This cheesy ground beef casserole with potatoes has been an Easter side dish as well as a breakfast brunch item at our house. Try it and see what all the hype is about!<\/p>\n
Ingredients<\/p>\n
1 pound crumbled ground beef<\/p>\n
1 yellow onion, diced<\/p>\n
3 to 4 pounds of potatoes, peeled and sliced<\/p>\n
8 ounces, or more Cheddar Cheese, shredded<\/p>\n
1 can Cheddar Cheese soup mix<\/p>\n
12 ounces evaporated milk, or whole milk<\/p>\n
\u00bd cup milk<\/p>\n
1 tsp salt<\/p>\n
\u00bd tsp pepper<\/p>\n
How To Make<\/p>\n
Preheat the oven to 350*<\/p>\n
Spray a 9\u00d713 baking dish with a non stick cooking spray<\/p>\n
In a large skillet, add the onion and ground beef and cook until the meat is done<\/p>\n
Slice the potatoes to about \u00bc\u201d slices<\/p>\n
Add one layer of potatoes to the bottom of the baking pan<\/p>\n
Sprinkle with salt and pepper<\/p>\n
Top with approximately \u2153 of the meat mixture and spread evenly over the potatoes<\/p>\n
Sprinkle with \u2153 of the shredded cheese<\/p>\n
Repeat this two more times in layers<\/p>\n
The last layer should be the remaining cheese<\/p>\n
In a bowl, combine the Cheddar cheese soup mix, the milk and the evaporated milk, with optional salt and pepper if desired<\/p>\n
Pour the soup mix over the top of the potatoes and beef mixture<\/p>\n
Cover the baking pan tightly with aluminum foil and place in the oven<\/p>\n
Bake for one hour<\/p>\n
Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes to get a golden topping on the cheese.<\/p>\n
If the potatoes are thicker, you will need to bake the dish longer<\/p>\n
